Nuria Suárez, Ph.D. (Extraordinary Doctoral Award), University of Oviedo (2010), is Associate Professor of the Finance Departament at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She is accredited as Full Professor from 2024. Previously, she held Assistant Professor positions at CUNEF (2015-2017) and at the Public University of Navarre (2011-2015).
Her research interests focus on the banking and corporate finance field. Her research papers examine the impact of the characteristics of the banking sector (structure, competition, regulation, and supervision) and new alternative finance sources on the availability of credit, firm investment, economic growth, and economic stability. She has published articles in recognized international finance journals, such as Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Financial Stability, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, Journal of International Money and Finance, International Review of Economics and Finance, or International Review of Law and Economics, among others. She is also author and coauthor of book chapters published by Springer and Routledge, among others. She currently serves as associate editor in banking for the Spanish Journal of Finance and Accounting and for the Revue Finance. During the last years, she has been a member of several research projects and she has been the main researcher of a research project granted by the Regional Government of Madrid. She usually attends the main international and national research conferences in banking and finance and Nuria is Visiting Professor at the University of Palermo (Italy). During her doctoral studies, she visited the Business Department of the Carlos III University of Madrid (2010).
